Negative taken for April 19, 1959, Arkansas Gazette article "He Came Home to Paint Hills of His Boyhood," E1:1. Marvin E. Oliver of Huntsville, Madison County, Arkansas, poses with his silk screen prints and oil paintings of images from his youth. Oliver made a model of the meal-grinding operation, locally called a "Slow Joe" mill (1818.2) A similar style mill is feature in Oliver's drawing of "Slow Tom Hollow," a "Slow Joe" style mill operated by a man named Tom near Whitter, Madison County, Arkansas when Oliver was a boy. (1818.3) The drawings also include the scene of a man working a unique lathe hr titled, "Will it run?" (1818.1).
